What is a Birthday Video eCard?

A birthday video ecard is an online birthday greeting card featuring your personal video.

Birthday video ecards are not unlike those e cards you send with your personal photos. We just took the idea to another level and introduced private video sharing with birthday video e-cards.

When you send a birthday video ecard, only the recipients get an email with a link to the ecard that you've created. When they click the link, they see your video playing inside a beautifully designed, personalized birthday ecard.

Birthday video ecards are perfect for everyone. For instance:

Say a very special Happy Birthday to your good friend or your sweetheart
Record your child singing Happy Birthday to Grandma and send her a beautiful video e card with a personalized message
Gather a group of friends together to record a special birthday greeting to that person turning 21, 30, 40... !
Husbands, wives, moms and dads, grandmothers and grandfathers, friends and all will love receiving a personal video message and a beautiful e-card for their birthday!

How to Create an eCard

Creating video e-cards is simple - all it takes is 4 easy steps. During the process, you will need to select an e-card design, personalize it with your message, locate (on your computer) the video file you wish to attach or record a video using your webcam, and finally, select family and friends to whom you want to email your e-card!

Before you send your video e card to friends and family, you will be able to preview your personalized e-card with your video.

How to Make a Video for Your e-Card

There are several ways to make a video. You can either use 1) your webcam, 2) your video camera, or 3) your digital camera set to video mode.

Using your Webcam (easiest and quickest method):

You can record messages directly into video e-cards using your webcam. Follow the instructions that came with your webcam to get it hooked up - it must be working before you use it to make an e-card video. If you are having trouble setting up your webcam, see Setting Up Your Webcam. Once your webcam is hooked up, follow the steps to select your ecard design, and then record a video in the following steps:

When prompted, click on "Allow" to give us permission to record your message
Click the record button to start recording
Record your message
Click Stop when you are finished
After you record your message, you can replay it to make sure you like it
When you are satisfied with your message, you can click Save and Proceed to send it, or you can record it again

Using your video camera:

Using your photo camera set on video mode:

Follow the instructions that came with your camera to record a video
Adjust the video settings to record the video size in 320 x 240
Connect your camera to your computer and save the video. Acceptable file formats include: .avi, .mpg, .mov, .flv, .mp4, .wmv
Make sure the video is less than 50MB before uploading it. If it is too large, make a smaller one
When creating your video e-card, browse to the video file, then upload it

Who Can View Your e Cards

At BirthdayVideoEcards, we realize you may not want to share your videos with everyone on the Web. While there are places you can do that, this site is about sharing your videos with friends and family.

During the process of creating an e card, you designate who should receive a link to your video e card. Only the folks on your list get an email from BirthdayVideoEcards.com with a link to your personalized video e cards.

eCard Expiration

eCards are available for the recipients and sender to view as many times as they'd like for 30 days. After 30 days, the ecard and associated video are deleted from our system. The reason for this is that the cost of storing videos is high. We have determined that it is not cost effective to keep ecard videos on our system for more than 30 days. By removing them, we make room for new video ecards!
